Press Release: August 21, 1997Local Companies Join Forces for Warren County Internet Web Site Royal Oak Computers and SIL Webs, both located in Warren County, have announced a partnership to provide Warren County and the Shenandoah Valley with a global Internet presence. Royal Oak Computers is the largest provider of computer systems, software and networking technology in Warren County. SIL Webs is a new division of SIL Inc., a company based in Bentonville which specializes in systems analysis and database design. SIL Webs is currently the area's only full-time Internet design firm. "Other providers in this area do web design as a sideline. For us, it's our only business," says Kenneth Baltrinic of SIL Webs. "This has a major positive impact on our service since our clients have our undivided attention." The partnership developed because both Royal Oak Computers and SIL Inc. found themselves unable to help their clients who needed web site services. Neither company was able to find a reliable full-time provider in the county. By joining forces, Royal Oak Computers and SIL Webs are able to provide one-stop shopping for companies and individuals who are looking for Internet services. Hardware, software, web site design, long-term maintenance and support are all available through the partnership. The first major effort of the new joint venture is the development of the Warren County/Shenandoah Valley Home Page on the Internet. The site offers information about virtually all aspects of the area. "It's like the Yellow Pages, newspaper and visitor center all rolled into one," says Kenneth Baltrinic of SIL Webs. "The more information you can provide, the more people will visit us on the Internet and the more outside interest will be focused on the area. So, it becomes an excellent place for local businesses and organizations to place their ads." Craig Laird, of Royal Oak Computers, who has been interested in developing a site on the World Wide Web for the past two years, says, "This has been our idea for a long time. We are very pleased that SIL Webs is pursuing the idea with us so energetically." The first phase of the site was unveiled on the Internet last week at www.shenvalley.com and already requests for information about Warren County are flowing in. Requests are forwarded to the Chamber of Commerce, the Economic Development Authority and other appropriate agencies. SIL Webs is presently offering free links on the site to any local businesses which already have a web site of their own. Free consultation is also offered to any businesses or individuals interested in developing a web site for their organization. For more information, Kenneth Baltrinic of SIL Webs may be contacted at (540) 631-0066 and Craig Laird of Royal Oak Computers at (540) 635-7064. Information may also be requested by sending e-mail to silwebs@silinc.com or royaloak@shenvalley.com.
